UPCOMING HOLY DAYS
THE FEAST OF THE TRANSFIGURATION OF CHRIST IS AUGUST 6---This holy day commemorates when our Lord was transfigured on the Mount before His disciples. We will have Vesperal Liturgy on Thursday, August 5, 6:30 p.m. It is customary to bring grapes and other fruit to be blessed at the end of the service. We will have a potluck meal after the service---fasting food, please, but fish is allowed.
PARAKLESIS PRAYER SERVICE for the Dormition Fast----Tuesday, August 10, 7 p.m.
THE FEAST OF THE DORMITION OF THE HOLY THEOTOKOS IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 15. This feast commemorates the Falling Asleep (death) and assumption into heaven of St. Mary. This feast will be celebrated at our normal Sunday liturgy at 10 a.m.
THE DORMITION FAST—We fast August 1-14 to show our love and veneration for St. Mary as we prepare to celebrate her Dormition on August 15. This fast is similar to that of Great Lent---no animal products except shellfish. Wine and olive oil are also given up except on Saturdays, Sundays, and Tranfiguration Day, August 6. Also, fish is eaten on Transfiguration Day.
THE HOLY DAY OF THE BEHEADING OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST IS SUNDAY, AUGUST 29—We will observe this holy day at our regular Sunday liturgy that day. August 29, as we commemorate St. John’s death, is a fast day, even when it falls on a Sunday.

NORTH BIBLE STUDY will not meet in July. We will meet Tuesday, August 24, 6 p.m., at the Parkers’, 27783 Royal Forest, Westlake. We are studying the book of I John. WEST BIBLE STUDY---Saturday, July 17, and Saturday, August 28, 6:45 p.m. (right after Vespers, which will be at 6 those days). We are studying the book of Revelation—come join us!

CHAT AND CHEW DISCUSSION PARTY----You’re invited to a party, but not the usual type! There will be food (that’s the “chew”), some great fellowship (that’s the “chat”), plus a discussion of “How is the Orthodox Church different from, and similar to, other churches?”. ST. HERMAN’S MINISTRY TEAM---We will be cooking and serving meals for the homeless at St. Herman Monastery on Sundays, July 11 and August 8. MINISTRY TO THE HOMELESS----Some of our parishioners will be delivering personal necessity bags, sandwiches, clothes, water, socks, etc. to the homeless on the streets of Cleveland after church on Sundays, July 18 & 25 and August 15 & 22. If you can help by going along or donating, or making lunches on a future delivery day, let Josie Katzbach know, 440-895-0534. Only donated items needed right now-----water, socks, toiletries.
FOOD PANTRY
THANK YOU TO ALL FOR YOUR GENEROSITY TO THE NEEDY! Many deliveries have been made this year and the pantry is rather depleted.. We now need to restock—please help by bringing in non-perishable food & household items. The pantry is in the first Sunday School room, next to the kitchen.
And please remember to check expiration date.

SUNDAY SCHOOL IS OUT FOR SUMMER AND WILL RESUME ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 12
SAINTS DAY CROWNING PRAYERS for children with Saints Days in July will be after our Sunday, July 18 liturgy. And for those in August, it will be Sunday, August 29.

NEW CATECHUMEN----Alex Lane became a catechumen on June 20 in preparation for entering the Orthodox Faith by Holy Baptism at a later date.
ANTIOCHIAN VILLAGE CAMP
We have 12 children (more than ever) attending the various camp sessions at the Antiochian Village this summer. Please pray for a spiritually profitable experience for them. Thank you to all who have helped with our scholarship fund for them---especially to Gail Malaniak!
